In our 150th year, we are thrilled to announce our Market will join South Australia’s food and wine industry to celebrate the state’s premium food and wine offering during Tasting Australia 2019 from 11 to 14 April 2019. As we are just a short walk from Tasting Australia’s hub in Victoria Square, we are hosting a series of free and ticketed events throughout the week, featuring an outstanding culinary line-up of South Australia’s best chefs, Market traders, and artisan producers.

A Time Travellers Feast:
Imagine travelling back in time to sample the flavours, sights and sounds from 150 years of Adelaide Central Market history. This is your chance. The way the market’s produce (and South Australian tastes) have changed over a century-and-a-half reveals intricate stories about the fabric of our community and its unique food culture. This adventurous four course long table lunch will be a feast for the senses. Some of South Australia’s hottest chefs will serve up a menu inspired by the years 1869, 1919, 1969 and 2019. They’ll use ingredients created by the multigenerational producers whose families have been supplying the market for decades. This culinary odyssey is a once in a lifetime travel experience, not to be missed. Guests are encouraged to embrace the journey and dress inspired by their favourite era. Book your ticket here.

Women In Food Breakfast:
It started with seven stools and a tiny kitchen in 1957, when migrant Lucia Rosella arrived from Italy and opened a tiny kitchen at the Adelaide Central Market to sell pizza. A trailblazer of her time, and unknowingly paving the way for generations of women to come, Lucia created a South Australian icon that continues to thrive. Join us for breakfast made with love by Lucias and hear from our panellists, chef and owner of the Salopian Inn Karena Armstrong, owner of the Smelly Cheese Shop, Say Cheese and Dough Valerie Henbest, and Michelle Farinola of Samtass Bros Seafood talk about what it means to be a woman in the food industry today and how we can shape the future for the next generation. Book your ticket here.

Our free cooking demonstration program is highlighting the incredible produce found in our Market and the amazing chefs around SA who use our Market as their pantry. Find out more here.
