Make Music Day is a free festival that celebrates Adelaide as Australia’s only UNESCO City of Music. For one day only, 40 venues across the CBD and North Adelaide are opening their doors for a packed day of live music, transforming cafés, bars, galleries, bookstores and public spaces into stages and dance floors.

Presented in partnership with City of Adelaide and Alliance Française d’Adélaïde, we’ve got a day of FREE entertainment in store for you at the Market.

Workshop: A Touch of French – Learn & Sing, presented by Alliance Française d’Adélaïde
10am to 10.40am – Community Kitchen

Join us for a lively singing workshop and learn a little French while you’re at it! You’ll kick things off by learning some basic French language, with the workshop coming together in a group karaoke performance of a famous French song. Absolutely no experience is necessary: just bring your love for music and learning something new! Spots are casual but space is limited. Please arrive early to grab a coffee, take a seat and get ready to sing your heart out.

Live Music: Lou Blackwell & The French Set
10am to 12pm – Eastern Roadway
Smooth vocals meet soulful jazz, with Lou Blackwell bringing her trio to the Market for a touch of French flair.

Live Music: Adelaide String Duo
9am to 11am – South-Eastern Entrance (Gouger Street)
Jacqui and Brenton Edgecombe’s luxury cello and violin duo are bringing a touch of timeless romance to the Market!

Workshop: Craft & Chorus: Kids Make Music Workshop, presented by Alliance Française d’Adélaïde
11am to 11.30am – Community Kitchen

This interactive workshop designed to ignite your child’s imagination. Your little ones will craft their own rain stick, followed by a game to discover and identify different musical instruments. Perfect for kids aged 5–10 (no musical experience required!)
Please note: While the workshop is free, spaces at the craft tables are limited and filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Live Music: Mélange à Trois
