For the past 19 years, Kim has been a familiar face behind the counter at Aubergines, with a warm smile and genuine passion for produce with customers.

With nearly two decades surrounded by fruit, vegetables, and herbs, it’s no surprise when she says, I really love fruit and veg – and the regular customers. Everyone here is so friendly!

Ask Kim for a favourite, and her answer will likely depend on the time of year. Summer fruit is my favourite — all the beautiful local stone fruit and cherries. You really can’t beat them, she says. But if you’re new to the stall, just try whatever’s in season – it’s always fresh, delicious, and great quality.

So, what keeps Kim here after all these years? It’s the unique atmosphere of the Market. You get to know everyone here and it’s convenient to get everything at once. The Market really is the best in SA – better than anywhere else!

When it’s time for a break, Kim enjoys a bowl of pasta from Lucia’s, sushi from Sunmi, or a Friday night dinner at SiSi or Zuma. And her day always begins the same way, with a coffee from The Coffee Bean Shop.
